WHEAT ACQUISITION
ALLEGED CORRUPTION CHARGES. SYDNEY, Bth .March. Afc the Royal Commission enquiry into the alleged corruption _in connection with the Wheat Acquisition Acb, evidence was given by a number of farmers and others in- the Coalamon district, which showed that, a deputation interviewed ■ the member for ».he di« triet and Ministers about the Bill, and subsequently an agent was appointed to canvass the districts with the object of obtaining subscriptions with a view to taking steps for securing the cancellation of -wheat contracts. ' Witnesses gave varying versions of how the money was expended. Some said they had been told it waa to go to the Labour Caucus. Others that ( it went to _ pay the solicitor for putting he subscribe! s 1 case before Minisera. - One ■witness alleged that ho had been told that £300 was -paid, to the Caucus. The hearing Of the case has not been finished.
