Andrew Fisher), asking that the Commonwealth Government should not interfere with or commandeer the movements of six of the Shaw, Savill, and Albion. Company's chips, which were to call at Australian ports before coming to New Zealand. The Federal Prime Minister has replied stating that the Commonwealth Government will not interfere, and it is now possible to give the following particulars :— The Karamea is due at Nelson on 9th March, the Arawa is due in New Zealand in the middle of April, the Kumara is .due in Wellington on 13th March, the* Rangatira is due for loading in Ne.w Zealand at the end of April, the Pakeha is due & Wellington on 9th March, and the Waiwera is to leave Liverpool for Australia at the end of March. The ships' now available for March loading will be : Matatua, Tainui, Karam»aj Kaikoura, Ruahine, Westmeath, Star of Australia, Kumara, and Pakeha. The Imperial Government- i& taking steps to assist the New Zealand Government for the carriage Home of our meat exports for the use of the troops. The Secretary of State for the Colonies cables: — "Shipowners have appointed, a committee to co-operate with Hte Majesty's Government in securing regular and sufficient supplies of tonnage, and are appointing a committee of their representatives in Australia and New Zealand to settle details."
