THE REINFORCEMENTS

BIG PARADE TO-MORROW. AT NEWTOWN PARK. The whole of the Second Reinforcements will parade at Newtown Park tomorrow afternoon for inspection by His Excellency the Governor (Lord Liverpool). The men, who will be marched through the town, will be formed up on j the parade ground at 2.45 p.m., and at three o'clock, when His Excellency will arrive, will come to the Royal Salute. His Excellency will then inspect the troops, after which they will be formed ' up m a hollow square, and he will address them. Other speeches will also be delivered. The addresses will be followed by a short religious service and the singing of the National Anthem, after which his Excellency will watch the troops march past, following tho same procedure as was adopted in the case of the Main Expeditionary Force. As the 2000 odd men comprising the Second Reinforcements are an even finer body of men physically than those who left with tho Main Force, it is expected that the ceremony at Newtown Park tomorrow afternoon will be witnessed by a big crowd, and that the streets along which the troops will march' will be well lined with spectators The men are certainly a fine body, who are well worth seeing. . During lunch hour to-day the Howitzer Battery, with its full equipment, marched through Lambton-quay, and created a most favourable impression. The figure of merit in shooting of the 2nd Reinforcements is 59.0 average points per man. calculated on the classification practices New Zealand musuetry course. Major Potter, the Commandant of the camp at Trentham, has awarded prizes for good shooting to the undermentioned N.C.O.'s and men :— Pte. J. A. Harp (Auckland Infantry Company), 96 points ; Corp. N. A. Robieson (Wellington M.R.),95; Pte. T. H. Alexendra (Canterbury Infantry Company), 90; Pte. Bloomfield (Auckland Infantry Company), 90.
