MUNICIPAL ABATTOIR
A report on the number of stock slaughtered at tho municipal abattoirs during the month of September was presented to tho City Council last night It showed that the figures are being well maintained, and compare favourably with last year's work. The number of bullocks, however, shows a decrease of 112 and sheep a decrease of 905. The percentages condemned were as follow: — Cows 15.2, bullocks 1.7, bulls 25 (only four were slaughtered), sheep .40, lambs 1.3. Fifteen pigs were dealt with, and none were condemned. The foes collected from stock slaughtered were £151, 4s 7£d : from meat export companies, £130 2s 9d ; from the sale of offal, £138 10s 6d; cleaning tripe, £43 3s 2d. Tno total was £463 6s Ojd, being a decrease of £45 2s sid on the previous month, and £19 15s 9£d on the same month la6t year.
