According to Tsinanfu reports, during the naval bombardment at Tsingtao three German batteries at Fort Bismarck were put out of action, and the adjacent barracks fired. _ » The outer defences have been occupied by the Allies. SEIZURE OF RAILWAYS JAPAN EXPLAINS. PEKIN, 4th October. Japan has explained that the seizure of the Tsinanfu and Weihsein railway was due to strategic reasons, and also because the railway is essentially German.
