! DESTRUCTION OF TER- | MONDE f AS RUTHLESS AS AT LOUVAIN. , AMSTERDAM, 9th September. The German destruction at Termonde was as ruthless a-s at Louvain. Over a hundred buildings were destroyed by the artillery, or burned, including the Town Hall, the Museum, and the Palace of Justice. Only on one occasion did they behave in a civilised manner. When the hospital was blazing they carried out the patients and placed them in safety. The soldiery pillaged wine cellars, and rushed about in a drunken frenzy, killing women, children, and old men." FAMOUS CHURCHES BURNED. HAGUE, 9th September. The Germans burned two* famous churches in Dinant. One of them was St. Joseph's, in which there -was a Kubens altar-piece. Antwerp reports Etate that Belgian military prisoners in Germany are compelled to serve with the German troops operating again6t the Russians. STOLEN MAPS USED BY THE GERMANS. (Received September 10, 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, 9th September. Last year several thousand Belgian maps were stolen from Antwerp. The Germans are now using them.
