HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL
This morning tho Hutt Countl Council held its monthly meeting, there being present Councillors M. \V. Welch (chairman), J. Wakeham, W. J. llowcll, J. Wbitemah, T. Edwards, and \V. Galloway. The Inspector of Works (Mr. J. W. Cudby) reported that the jjrant in aid works at Day's Bay had been put in hand, a dozen men being employed. Tho roads in the various ridings were in very fair order, and will bo better for motorists a little later on. lie recommended the renewal of tho culvert fronting Mr. C. Grey's property near tho foot of I'^okakanki hill, in the Horokiwi Riding. The report was adopted. It was staled that the, Public Works Department had not replied to tho counoil's suggestion that day labour should be employed in the construction of the bridge o\-«r the Hutt Rivor on tho Akafcarawa-road, and it was resolved to again approach th© Department on the subject. A letter from tho Hon. J. Duthi«, asking that goree at Nai Nai should be cleared off the land, waa referred to the council's inspector!
