The Incorporated Society of Meat Importers' Smithfield market quotations for the undermentioned classeß of frozen meat are based on actual sales of not less than one hundred carcases of mutton or lamb, or twenty-five quarters of beef of fair average quality. The quotations are not for selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the bulk of the shipments now on the market. "VVheAt.— There lias been a further sharp advance in the price of wheat in the States^ leading English sellers to increase their demands by Is to Is 6d per quarter. Western Australian cargoes, now nearly dite, are held for 48s 6d ; and other Australian cargoes afloat are quoted at 48s. - Cargoes Afloat.— Wheat and flour cargoes afloat total 2,390,000 quarters for the United Kingdom. For the Continent, 1,530,000. United States and Canadian shipments total 1,088,000, and Indian 32,000. Wheat Yield for . Current Season.— "Bradstroet's Circular" estimates the ' world's wheat yield for 1914-15 season, including the Indian harvest of last May, at 435,250,000 quarters. The visible supply of American wheat and flour east of the Rocky Mountains is estimated at the equivalent of 46,561,000 bushels. Wool.— lt is reported that some 7000 to 8000 bales of slipe, medium to coarse crossbred, have changed hands privately at Id per lb above the July rates. The July London rates for sliped Australasian wool ranged from 9£d to 10£ d for inferior, 10£ dto Is Id for coarse, Is lid to Is 3d for good medium, and Is 3£d to Is 6£d for beet parcels of finer sorts. PRODUCE. Hides.— The sales are neglected. Queenslands are selling at 7|d to B£d per pound ; New South Wales. 7£d to Bd. Leather.— There is a good demand for all heavy leather. Heavy Australian realises 14d to 16£ d. For basils there is but little enquiry. First quality Sydney lines are selling at 15d to 173, *ud New Zea-lands at I7d to 21d. Tallow.— There is only a moderate <te- ! mand for tallows. Fine mutton is bvittging 35s 9d per cwt, and mediums 33s } fine beefs 32s 9d and medium 31s. METAL MARKETS. LONDON, sth September. Bar silver is quoted at 24|d per ounce stondard. i Quicksilver is quoted nominally at £6 15s per bottle of 701b ? « drop of 5s compared with the quotation on 15th August. Aluminium is quoted at £90 to £92 per ton, about the same as a week ago. OTHER MARKETS. New Zealand Hemp.^-The market is quiet, and New Zealand hemp is neglect cd. (Last week's quotation for good fair was £24 per ton on spot). Jute.— Native first marke. September shipment, 30s higher at £27 10s perton. Kauri Gum.— Stocks of New Zealand kauri gum on hand total 706 tons. Rubber. —Fine hard Para rubber is quoted at 2s 9|d per lb, an advance of 3jfd: first latex plantation, 3|d lower at 2s 2^dj smoked ribbod sheet, 2d lowei< at 2s 4d.
