HARRIERS
«• ~- The Olympic Club held its first five-, mile championship and sealed handicap at Miramar on Saturday. A fairly good muster faced the starter, Mr. A. Davies, .^ member of the New Zealand Council. F. Hodson led from the start, closely followed by "Darky" Byrne. This order was maintained for 4| miles, when Byrne displaced Hodson and eventually won by ten yards. The sealed handicap was won by F. Hodson, with Gordon Dixon second, and D. Alabaster third. Byrne's actual Lime was 31min 45sec, Hodson's 31min 50sec. Thanks are due to the following officials:— A. Davies, D. M'Gillivray, L. Brown, A. E. Rowlan. also to C. Coad, who, witli two of the Wellington Harriers laid a good cijjirse. Next Wednesday the Harriers are trying to put on a distance race, starting and finishing at. the Basin Reserve, the only tiophics being three ccitificates given by Mr. A. E. Rowlan, all proceeds to go to tho Mayor's Patriotic Fund. Entries may be left with Mr. Kitto, Manners-street.
