♦ ANOMALIES IN EAILWA'Y TARIFF. (BI - TBtCGRAPH.— PKtSS ASSOCIATION.) TAIHAPE, This Day. A conference of North Island sawmill«rs was held at Taihape last night, Mr. W. Hopkirk (Wellington) presiding The question of freight anomalies in the railway tariff was discussed, and it was decided that the strongest representations be made to have all stations brought under on© scale of charges. The cheaper carriage oi" shorts was also advocated, and it was decided to try and have this class of timber brought under Class F (fencing rate) of the railway tariff, enabling manufacturers ' of fruitcases, etc., to make use of this timber instead of the imported article. The conference concluded at a very late hour, and ( it was decided that a similar conference be held half-yearly.
