The Northern Company's steamer Clansman _ collided with and sank the scow _ Pahiki in port at 1 6 o'clock this morning. The scow, loaded with sand and shingle, was sailing into port on the port tack. The Clansman, also inward bound", fctruck her amidships, going clean through her. The crew of the scow, three men — Christiansen (master), Gillet, and the latter's son— were thrown into the water, the scow having sunk in a few seconds. Christiansen' was unable to swim, and sank twice before he caught hold of a piece of timber. All three were rescued by a boat fi'oni the Clansman. The. steamer was undamaged. The captain, second mate, and man at the wheel on the Clansman assert that the scow was not showing any lights, and that the steamer was on top of the scow_ before they knew of the latter's proximity. The captain of the scow states that bis vessel was showing lights.
