HARRIERS
The city harrier clubs 'held a combined run from Cliff House, Island Bay, on Saturday. ■ Despite the rain a pack of 47 turned out. The trail led from Cliff House round the road to Happy Valley ami "up towards Brodklyn. About half-way up the' road 1 the trail branched off towards Mornington' over the hills, to Duppa-street Park. The runners had a lot of amusement coming down the hill, through 'the sloppy condition of the ground, and many fancy evolutions were gone through. About 600 yard? from the Island Bay Iram terminus the pack was lined up for a final dash for home. This resulted in a very close finish, F. J. Brync (Olympic Club) being first, G. Hutton (Brooklyn) second, W. Shell (Brooklyn) third, F. T. Kerr (Wellington) fourth. Owing to the Wellington Harriers not securing a place in the first three the trophy presented by Mr. L. Salek goes back to the club' for future competition.
