There has been a fair amount of business in the wheat market, with an improvement in the price of Red Tuscan, because of it« scarcity, but other wheats have only maintained the values of last week. The following are the net prices : Velvet, as ll^d to <k; Red Tuscan, 3s lid ; Red Cha-ff, 3s lOd ; Border, 3s lOd ; Velvet Ear, 3s 9|d ; Tuscan, 3s 9d ; and Marshall's White, 3s 9d. The oats mar : ket is weak, and only a small amount of business has been done. Ho]<kre in the country are mot inclined to sell at present prices, bub merchants are not disposed to advance. The following are the net prices :-— Prime heavy Gartons, Is 9dj A grade Gartoiiß, Is B^d; B grade Gartons, Is 7d ; Algerians, le M ; Duns, Is 7d. There is little demand for barley, a small lino of malting selling at 2s 3d, less commission. There is no improvement in potatoes, and' to-day's quotation is 60s net on trucks, but growers are not prepared to sell at ths price, and merchants aTe not buyers under the circumstainces.
