SHIPPING DISASTER

PULPIT REFERENCES The disaster on the St. Lawrence was referred to in most of the church services in the city and suburbs yesterday. Rev. C. 11 . Harvey, in the course of his sermon at St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral, said that a wave of sympathy had passed round the world for the thousands of mourners. He alluded specially to the loss sustained by the Salvation Army. At St. Peter's Anglican Church, Archdeacon Harper made feeling reference to the loss of life caused by the sinking of the Empress of Ireland. Appropriate hymns were sung} and at the close of the evening service the organist pla-yed Chopin's Funeral March. The Rev. W. Feeling allusion was made at the Sailors' Friend Society and the Seamen's Mission services to the marine disaster.
