AVIATION HENDON-MONACO RACE
TO COMMENCE TO-DAY. (By Telegraph.— Press association.— Copyright.) LONDON, 31st March. Verrier, Gilbert, and Lord Carbery have entered for an aviation race from Hendon to Monaco. There are over a score of entries from European centres. The prizes total 25000 sterling. The distance in all cases is 680 miles. The race begins on Wednesday. FATAL ACCIDENT AT STRASBURG. BERLIN, 31st March. Captain Reindhardt and Lieutenant Schule were flying near Strasburg, when they crashed to the^ ground. Reindhardt was killed. FRENCH AIRMAN IN AUSTRALIA. FREMANTLE, 31st March. Among the passengers on the Orpntes, which has arrived from London, is M. Maurice Guillaux, the famous French aviator*. He intends giving exhibitions demonstrating the safety and the wonders of aviation. MUFFLING MOTORS. (TIMES AND SYDNEY SUN SERVICES.) BERLIN, 31st March. A device for muffling the roar of motors has^ been successfully tried on an aimy airship. The device makes it impossible to detect the presence of a Zeppelin airship in foggy .weather.
