LODGE MEETINGS

Court Sir William Jervois, A.0.F., held its quarterly summoned meeting in St. Thomas's School, New town, on Tuesday night, C.R. Bro. J. Mills presiding. There was a large number of .members present. Bro. T. L. Coe, the secietary, gave a report on the progress of the couit for tho past twenty-five years, stating that 'during that time the court had paid £4536 in benefits to its members and had £1469 invested, the investments bringing in good interest. During the twenty-five years 622 members had joined the court and 17 had died. The court was opened a quarter of a century ago with 33 members, and there weic 9 of the old members still claiming membership. Bro. J. Mills was presented by the secretary with a Forester's Star for introducing nnetw t members into the court. Bro. Mills suitably replied, urging the members to attend the meetings and get their friends to join the court. Bro. G. Parker (secretary of the Picnic Committee) reported that all arrangements were completed for a monster picnic at Eastbourne on Easter Monday All that was wanted now was a fine day. Two members were added to the roll. The C.R.. on behalf of the members, presented Bro. T. L. Coe with a case of pipes, suitably engraved, as a memento. Bro. Coe thanked the members for the presentation, stating that he had held office in the order for thirty-two years, The quarterly meeting of Court Robin Hood, No. 4458, A.0.F., was held at St. Peter's Schoolroom last night, Bro. P. Walker, C.R., presiding. Bro. W. Worth, D.C.R.. attended and presented Bro. J._ W. Ward, treasurer, with a P. C.R. jewel in recognition of his services to tht district. The mim of £2 2s was voted to the assistance of the widows and children of those who lost their lives in the explosion at Upper Hutt. Two candidates were proposed for membership. The quarterly meeting of the Sacred Heart Branch. No. 511, Hibernian A.C.B. Society, was held in the Guildford-terrace Schoolroom on Monday evening last. Bro. M. J. M'Gahey, 8.P., presided over a good attendance of members. Sick pay amounting to £G was passed for payment. One new member was initiated and two were proposed. It was decided to hold a social evening, consisting of a progressive euchre party and a dance, in the lodge room on Wednesday, 22nd April. A vote of condolence with the relatives of those who met their death in tho recent disaster at Upper Hutt was passed in silence, all members standing. Fathei Daly was asked to convey the sympathy of the members to the relatives and the general community. Bro G. Petheiick, C.T., presided over a very large attendance at the weekly session of the Pioneer Lodge, No. li, 1.0. G.T., held in the Rechabite Hall, Manners-street, on Monday night. Two candidates were admitted to membership. Feeling reference was made to the loss of life at Upper Hutt, and the secretary was instructed to write to the chairman of the Town Board, expressing the sincere sympathy of the lodge with relatives and friends. The item for the evening was knick-knack night, in charge of Sisters Richards and Diggle. It proved very successful, many articles being given, which go to help furnish the fancy stall at the coming bazaar. A good musical programme was provided by Miss Pepper, Messrs. Miller, M'Kei.s'ie, Culveiwell, Parsons, Ma>al, Bryant, M'Naughton, and Bott, and Masters Lancaster and Izett. A cordial vote of thanks was passed to the two Sisters and all contributors to the evening's entertainment.
