The crew became mutinous and looted the stores. They Aveie overpowered and bound with ropes. ' ' , The Tatem Company's steamer Nor* thftm, 3842 tons, responded to wireless appeals, and a. boat was launched, but the effort to reach the Maipo was fruit* less. \ Second Officer Evans, of the Northaw, swam through tremendous seas and' car* ried a line to the Maipo. The tow-line broke after two hour** but the steering-gear was repaired, and 1 the Maipo reached port, convoyed by the Northam.
