THEFT FROM A HOTEL
(t\ KUSGtIAPH.-PhfcSS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, 30th March. In the Magistrate's Court to-day AJbert John Lawrpnoe was charged with breaking and entering by night the premises of the Provincial Hotol, and i stealing ] therefrom Ihreo bottles of whisky and two packets of cigarettes, valued ftt 16s. Evidenco was given that accused gained entrances to the bat 1 through the cellar, which opened to the Btreet, and when arrested lie had several bottles of liquor in his possession, only one of which was unbroken. The cash I'egister had been tampered with, but tho coutehts had previously been removed.
