FAR TOO GOOD THE AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS

SECOND TEST. , VISITORS WIN BY AN INNINGS AND 113 RUNS. (BT TELBOmPH.— PHESS ASSOCIATION.) ! AUCKLAND, 30th March. The second Tost match between Australia, and New Zealand was continued at Mount- Eden Park to-day, when the visitors secured a very easy victory. As was expected, the attendance was very meagre, and only £22 was taken at the gates, making A total of over £291 for the match. The Australians, who had lost five wickets for 273 runs on Saturday, batted again. They declared with cix wickets down for 610 runs. When the New Zealanders went in it was generally thought that they would endeavour to make the match a draw, and that consequently scoring would bo glow. Such, however, was not the case. The earlier batsmen gave a bright display, and pride of place must be given to M'-Mahon, the Gisborne man, who gave a really first-class exhibition of batting. When the players adjourned for tea tbo New Zealanders' score was 167 runs for four wickets, and a draw seemed assured. Five wickets were down for 201, with an hour and a half to play, but then di'sa^er set in, and the remaining five wickets fell for 27 runs, the innings closing for 228 runs. Australia thus won by an innings and 113 runs. The visitors, who have now completed their tour, will leave on a. visit to Rotorua to-morrow morning. Scores :—: — NEW ZEALAND.
