Those who have any doubts as to the work the Salvation Army is doing among the younger generation of New Zealanders would have had them wholly dispelled had they paid a visit to the Army Citadel in "Vivian-btreet last evening, because there they would have seen the results for themselves. It was the young people's demonstration in connection with the second national congress. Children of all ages; bright-eyed, rosycheeked, and well clad, were assembled on the big platform, and gave an entertainment which was heartily enjoyed, not only by themselves, but also by the big crowd of adults, mostly soldiers and lasses, who completely tilled the auditorium. A large number of the children were drawn from the Salvation Army Boys' and Girls' Homes in Wellington, and from the Boys' Home at Eltham, while the balance of the participating youngsters were drawn from the Wellington City, Wellington South, Petone, and Kilbirnie Young People's Corps, who, with their fellow-juveniles, are re garded as the future hope of the Army. The programme submitted was a highly diversified one, being made up of moving tableaux, chorus songs, solos, action songs, exhibition drills, recitations, ducts, band selections, gymnastic displays, missionary dialogues, etc. While all the performers were heartily applauded for their contributions, the items given by the Eltham boys proved the most popular, the little chaps, who were attired in white, with red sashes, being accorded quite an ovation. Following was the programme: — "Look Up," song, united children; company song, " Children of tire Nations," Girls' Home children; moving tableaux, "Cradle Roll to Training College," Wellington children ; boys' action song, ' ' Ten Little Juniors," South Wellington boys; action song, "Nearer My God to Thee," Petone girls; inarch, "Refuge of the Soul," South Wellington Boys' Band; song, " Wake Up, New Zealand," united children; recitation, "The Mail Boy's Ride," Master Carl Richards; drill, small girls from the Girls' Home; duet, "Daddy's Coming Home," Maud Carmichael and Nellie Kirk; action song, " Give the Little Boys a Chance," Island Bay boys; action song, "Crying Song," Girls' Home; march, "France," Wellington Boys' Band; missionary dialogue, " Gospel Lights," South Wellington children ; company song, Eltham boys ; drill, Girls' Home children ; tableaux, "Mercy's Gate," Wellington girls; song, "The Trumpet Call," united children. During the interval a Bible reading was given.
