PALMERSTON ITEMS (BT TELEGRAPH— SPECIAL TO THE POST.)
PALMERSTON N., This Day. A recent meeting of the High School Board had before it. a reply to the letter sent to the Old Boys' Association in explanation of certain remarks passed at a recent board meeting, which the Old Boys' Association held to bo derogatory to ib. The board decided to inform the association that the lemarks referred to were made by individual members of the board, and no reflection was mase against the association. The Old Boys' Association was, however, not satisfied with the reply, and sent a further letter to the board, which was discussed on Friday evening. The discussion was somewhat acrimonious, and after a lengthy meeting it, was decided to send a further letter to the association explaining the whole situation, and still denying that the statements were made by the board as a whole. A meeting of ratepayers in Palmerston North is called to consider the position which has arisen as a result of the recent adjustment of rating within the Palmerston Noith-Kairanga River Board district. There is a strong suggestion locally in favour of taking steps to abolish the board.
