VARSITY SPORTS VICTORIA COLLEGE MEETING

RECORDS LOWERED Dull and misty weather somewhat marred the seventh annual meeting of the Victoria College Amateur Athletic Club, which was held at Kelburne Park on Saturday afternoon. The fields in the various events, however, were large, and some interesting contests resulted*. Considering the wind and the heavy turf, the standard of some of the performances was very creditable. In the three-mile handicap, A. Hudson won in 15min 36 3-ssec, reducing hia own 1913 'Varsity record by 1 2-sseC. A. B. Sievwright lowered another college record in the mile walk, winning in 7mili 10 2-ssec, and beating his own record of last year by 3-ssec. At the conclusion of the 220 yds it was thought that H. Tily had put up a world's record until it was discovered tha-t the track was short. The mile flat saw A. Hudson (scr) and J. Rigg fight out a fine fimsh. Both entered the straight together, and Eigg, who had hung to the champion well throughout the race, won by inches. Hudson earned off the Championship Cup, which goes to the performer putting up the best performance from scratch in any one event. The Inter-Faculty Banner went to Arts and Sciences, as they beat Law by 13 points. The disposition of the. Dram Cup remains in doubt until the long jump has been decided next Saturday. It is awarded the competitor gaining the highest number of points from his handicap. Detailed results are :—: — 100 Yards Handicap.— First heat: K. J. Tait 1, A. East 2 ; time, llsec.
