VARIOUS ACTIVITIES. At a meeting of the New Zealand Natives' Association, held last night, letters were received from the following, agreeing to accept the positions stated: President, Hon. A. L. Herdman ; vicepresidents, Hon. F. M. B. Fisher, and Messrs. W. H. P. Barber and H. Buddie; patrons, Sir Robert Stout, Hon. C. H. Mills, Dr. A. K. Newman, Hon. J. Jenkinson, and Messrs. W. A. Veitch and C. B. Morison. Further replies are expected during the next few days. ! Mr. W. Brown was elected chairman of the Executive Committee. The secretary was instructed to write to the Early Settlers' Association, asking the members to join tli9 New Zealand Natives' Association, pointing out that it would be to their advantage, as one of the planks of the new association was to take an active interest in the welfare .of early colonists. Arrangements were put in band for a burlesque costume football match— Maori *. Pakeha— to be played on the Basin Reserve next month. The proceeds are to go towards a building tund. The Social Committee reported that the Dramatic Club was busily rehearsing the comedy "Charley's Aunt," with a view to a public performance at a •ater date.
A first-offending iifebriate, who appeared before Messrs. M'Ewan and Wakeham at the Petone Police Court this morning, was convicted and discharged. A prohibition order was also issued against him. The question of procuring a. motor vehicle for the Petone Fire Brigade cropped up at the meeting of the Fire Board yesterday, when the local committee was deputed to prepare *,i6port , on, thg matter by next meeting. ;
