A very successful auction sale of gift stock was held at Carterton on Thursday afternoon, under the auspices of the Wairarapa and East' Coast P. and A. Society. There was a good attendance of the public, and bidding in teany cases was spirited, the, same line being auctioned several times. Mr. M. D. MacGoun, dentist, has disposed of his practice here and is about to take up his residence in Napier. The Wairarapa Racing Club lias engaged the services of the Carterton Brass Band for the Easter meeting. Mr. W. 0. Bayliss, the well-known breeder of Holstein cattle, Parkvale, is relinquishing dairy farming in order to take up sheep farming. The Mayor and borough councillors of Carterton have received an invitation to be present at the cadet inspection at Masterton on 25th May. when Sir lan Hamilton will be present.
