Sir, — Personally I would not go across the street to see an aeroplane, let alone waste a shilling on it, but I would give a guinea to shame the snivellers who thought a shilling purchased for them a whole aeroplane and a man's life. To-morrow afternoon No. 4 Battalion Wellington Senior Cadets will parade at Newtown Park, at 2.30 o'clock, for field service. The afternoon will be devoted to working out an attack scheme en the hills, behind the park. No. 4 Battalion comprises the V.M.C.A., Technical School, Boy Scout, and Boys' Institute Cadets. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Anti-Opium Association will bo held in the Vivian-street Baptist Church Hall this evening at 8 o'clock. The speakers will be the Revs. A. T. Bramsby, J. R. Glasson, W. S. Potter, and Dr. J. G. Hughes. Michael James Nash, a wharf labourer, who was defended by Mr. H. F. O'Leary, pleaded not guilty this afternoon to being an idle and disorderly person. After hearing the evidence of Detective Sergeant Cassells and a number of constables, Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., convicted the accused and sentenced him to one month's imprisonment. As he was leaving the dock the prisoner ' exclaimed : "Do I deserve that, your Worship?" and, receiving no response, added, 'I don't think so!" Notice has been given by Councillor Anderson, of Petone, that he will movo, at the next meeting of the council, as follows -.—"That the gas manager be instructed to report upon the following' matters :-— (1) Whether it would be advantageous to remove the gasworks from Udy-street to the council's property at the Sandhills?
