CRICKET WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION MEETING OF COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the Management Committee of the Wellington Cricket Assoc iation was held last evening, when there were present : Messrs. C. G. Wilson (chairman). A. A. Geoige, M. C. Mason, C. Hickson, R. Goldfinch, M. J. Crombie, J. Fanning, F. M. Martin (treasurer), and E. M. Beechey (secretary). In reply to an enquiry by the Reserves Committee, the association decided to state that the preparation of jumping pits for athletic meetings was detrimental to the ground at tho Basin Reserve. It was decided to obtain information from Sydney and Melbourne before taking any action in regard to the City Council's offer to purchase a motormower for the Basin Reserve on payment of £10 annually and the cost of upkeep. Permission having been obtained from the City C6uncil, it was resolved that a charge of 6d be made for admission to the Basin Reserve on 28th March and 4th April, when the final for the senior championship will be played. Mr. M'ConneH reported the position of the third-class championship" series. Petone and Institute were equal in the percentage of points except for a decimal point. Institute, however, protested against the award of a win by default to Petone against North, while Petone protested against Institute's gaining two points for the match against East and three points against St. David's, on the giound that the matches were continued after the time fixed for drawing stumps. The Third-class Committee recommended that the two teams play off for the championship. The association decided tfhat two points be awarded Institute for the ' match against East, as a win had been obtained at the proper time for drawing stumps, but that two points only be 1 allowedfor the St. David's game, as the outright win was gained only after the official stopping time. With respect to the Institute protest, Uie association decided that, as it was impossible to obtain an exact statement of the position, Institute and Petone should play a two-days' match to decide the championship on the two coming Saturdays.
