OVERTIME WORK BREACH OF AN AWAKD.
(IT TILKGIUPH.— PRSSJ ASSOCIATION.) NEW PLYMOUTH, 24th March. In the Magistrate's Court to-day the Inspector of Awards proceeded against George GoldswoMhy for a breach of the painters' industrial agreement in working overtime for Nipper Bros., who some weeks »\go were penalised for allowing men to work overtime. A clause in the agreement provides that no man may make up lost time. The defendant admitted the breach, saying the clause was discussed at the union meeting, when a minority objected. He agreed to work the overtime when asked. A nominal penalty was inflicted. Another workman concerned was a non-unionist, and cannot be prosecuted.
