CLOCK FUND POSITION TO DATE.
. A special meeting of the Wellington Orphans was held this week to consider the report and balance-sheet in connection with the Town Hall Clock Fund. Tlio total receipts .were bhown at £239 14s 9d and the expenditure at £5? lfe Id, leaving a credit balance of £186 18s Bd. In view of the extreme ! difficulty experienced by the executive in raising funds during strike tinwi, t.ho project had to be abandoned for the time being. Up to the commencement of the strike the above sum had been raised inside of three months and the remainder of the money required seeded within measurable distance, when the unfortunate industrial strife compelled the postponement of further operations. Any further movement in the matter will be decided at the club's annual general meeting next month. The Orphans' Club, however, deserves to be congratulated for its splendid work despite many difficulties, and it is hoped that/ it will i not be long before the lull amount is raised.
