WELLINGTON COLLEGE AND GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL. At the meeting of the Board of Governors of Wellington College and the Girls' High School yesterday, it was reported that tho. Wellington College examination results for 1913, wery? as follow :~ | Junior University Scholarship (credit i passes), 3; Junior University Scholarship (qualified matriculation), 3; military entrance, Duntroon. 3 ; matriculation and engineeiing (preliminary). 4 ; matriculation, solicitors' general knowledge, and medical preliminary, 14 ; matriculation and solicitors' general knowledge, 3 j matriculation, S ; matriculation (complete). 2; Senior Education Board Scholarship, 4 : senior free places by scholarship examination, 26 : junior free places by scholarship examination, 14 ; senior free places examination, 59 ; junior free place examination, 8; Junior Civil Ser\ice (credit), 16; Junior Civil Service (pass). 23; Senior Civil Service (complete pass), 3; Senior Civil Service (partial pass), 3. The schdlarships were not all won by different boys. The lady principal of the Girls' High School made the following report :—: — Four girls gained "credit" at the junior scholarship examination, thus gaining bursaries. As Dora Pope is highest on the credit list, tho Mary Scholarship falls to her. Eleven other girls passed the matriculation examinations, two gaining partial passes, One passed in the junior scholarship papers. As girls were not allowed to compete in the Public Service entrance examination, five entered,, at very short aotice, for the Public Service senior examination, and all passed, one in tho full number of subjects, three in five, and one in three subjects. Other results are :—fiftyseven pupils gained senior free places, fourteen were granted a year's -extension of their junior free places, and six pupils (being all that I recommended) were given pjoficienc.v certificates. In tho Education Board Scholarship examinations, one pupil (Doreen Britland) was awarded a Junior National Scholarship, being first in the Wellington Province. Five others were awarded'scholarships— three junior and two senior.
