NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL At its meeting at Christchurch last week the council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association ro« solved : " That the representatives of tho New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association upon the Olympic Council of New Zealand shall be the chairman and secretary of the Swimming Centre of tho Now Zealand Amateur Swimming As* sociation, whose headquarters eha-ll bein the same _ district as the Olympic • Council is situated, excepting in tho case of the headquarters of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association and the Olympic Council being stationed in the same district, in winch case the chairman and the honorary secretary of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association shall' bo the representatives." AT CARTERTON Two taces .were held at the Grey town Swimming Baths by- the club la«t night of 50 yards each. W. /Haigh won tho school boys' 50yds race. Iv tho first heat of the men's 50yds race W. Hall won, and the second heat was won by W. Muir, and in the swim-off Muir won. WATER POLO Tho first match in connection with the second round of the senior water polo competition was played on Saturday afternoon, Swifts defeating Old Boya by 4 goals to 2. The teams were: Swifts— Vango, Moore, Little, Jonkiuson, Fordham, Smith, and M'Gmth. Old BoysM'Lean, Levi, Russell, Fraser, Newman, Capper, and West. As the scores indicate, Swifts- -were superior to their opponents, who did not take advantage of a number of good openings. In the junior games, Wefiingtoh beat Worser Bay by 3 goals to 1. Loader, Scott, and minor scored for the winners, while Worser Bay's score came about when Wellington's goal-keeper carried the ball through his own goal. In tho remaining game, Old Boys 'went under to V.M.C.A.. Jo tho tune of 3 goals Jo 1. CLUB RACE The Wellington Club goi off a, fifty - yards race on Saturday afternoon, resulting as follows:— -H.
