PIPE BAND CONTEST
AUCKLAND, 18th January. The champion pipe band contest on Saturday afternoon was won by Dunedin, with 334]? points. Auckland was spcoiul with 304 points, and Oaniaru third with 270 points. These were the
only competitors. Points were given for music, dress, appearance, and drill, nnd Dunedin led in each department. The judge said the Dnnedin band would be difficult to beat anywhere. Other events attracted very few competitors. Bellamy, of Victoria, won the Gillie Callum sword dance and Irish jig championships, and J. Center, oE Victoria, won the championships iov pibrochs and marches. ,
