CRICKET

WICKETS FOR SCHOOL TEAMS A deputation from the Public Schools Cricket Association met the Reserves Committee of the City Council yesterday afternoon. Mr. Hempleman, tho spokesman, asked for tho use of eight wickets on city reserves for Friday afternoons. The Public Schools Association had practically no funds, and it was asked that the wickets be granted without charge. Tho boy 3, if allowed the use of the caretaker's materials, would themselves prepare the turf. Councillor Frost (chairman of the committee) considered the lequest a reasonable one. As the committee was anxious to encourage sport in schools the caretakers of grounds which it was desired to use would be instructed to assist in the manner asked by tho deputation.
