SWIFTS FOOTBALL CLUB ANNUAL MEETING
At the nineteenth annual meeting n\ the Swifts Association Football Club, held in the Amateur Sport* Federation rooms, BaJlance-street, last evening, Mi. B. L. Salmon presided. Thirteen new members were elected ta the club. It was announced that two medal« had been donated by Mr. H. G. ■ Mayer ,:• for performances on the field during th© » coming season. The date fixed upon for the commencement of practice was the fUvst Saturday after Eaeter. In the annual report, which was. adopted, the committee regretted, that ' the club had not maintained the proud position that it held in previous seasons. The first eleven did not do as well as ' anticipated, and in the Charity Cup, ' also, it did not meet with much success. The members of the committee were to be congratulated on again entering a second eleven, which did very well, coming fourth in. tho competition. li> > was a matter of l-egrefc that the third • division did not do as well as formerly, but, with young players coming on, it was hoped that this season the team ■ would be able to show a better record. The lower grade teams all made a very creditable showing, and the club's future should be well assured with such a numbev of good young players coming on. . The cup presented by the club to the Mttriborough Boys' League waft keenly . competed for, and was won by the Ma net Bros.' team.' Thanks were due ' to Messrs. L. White, B. L. Salmon, and E. 0. Hutcheson for the interest <hey had taken in the boys' teame. The ':ommitteo extended its sincere sympathy to Mr^ J. Abel, and to the MtTesre. Guise, in, their recent bereavements, Reference was finally made to the formation of the W.F.A.'s new ground at Kilbirnie, much pleasure being expressed at the progress that had been made in the work.
