EASTER CARNIVAL ESSAY COMPETITION

Regulations have been framed for the Wellington Citizens' Easter Carnival essay competition for prizes of £5 ss, £3 3s, and £2 2s offered by Dr. Newman, ex' Mayor. On the first page of the essay the writer must sign his or her nom-de-plume or pen name, and enclosed with the essay there is to be a sealed envelope addressed on the outside with the nom-de-plume only, and carrying a card with the full name and address_ of the writer. This sealed envelope will remain in the custody of the Mayor until the decision of the judge is given. Should the writer sign his or her name on the manuscript or "copy" of the essay, or leave any means of personal identification, such essay will be disqualified. The essays will be judged by a gentleman to be appointed by the Citizens' Carnival Executive, and his decision is to be considered final in every Way. The judge will not be selected until after entries close, and he will not be aware of the name of the writers. All rights in connection with all essays forwarded will be the absolute property of the Citizens' Carnival Executive Committee.
