m MANAGERS' REPORTS. May Queen.— No.' 10 level (1000 ft). The Exchange reef, going westward, is now more compact, and- carries a good cites of mineral. Eastward of the main crosscut this reef is looking well. Several very nice pieces of picked stone have been selected from the quartz broken down. Watchman. — The manager of the Watchman mine, Thames, reports that during the past week work was principally confined to the No. la level, where > the men have been engaged in widening and timbering. The leading fltope^ is producing a fair amount of crushing ore of a good grade. Number 5 rise iaup 91ft. At this point the reef measures 15ft, and is of low grade. New Sylvia.— The manager of the New Sylvia mine, Thames, reporting for the past week, states that good progress is being made with the new rise at No. 3 level, the quartz being 3ft wide and of ; fair value. All the stopee are producing a fair quantity of ore, and in No. 5 stone gold is seen freely, tho roef being 10ft wide. Dominion.— -The drive on the new roof was advanced lift during tho past week, making a total of 61ft from the mouth of tho tunnel. Old Hauraki.— 'On. the seaward block at the 400 ft level five stopea are, -in progress, an<l pieces of picked stone aie being obtained., ' Waihi.— Tho following cablegram (says the New Zealand Herald of Wednesday) has been despatched to the London offices of the Waihi Gold Mining Company :— "No. 10 level : The water is, now out of the country rock."
