UNION IN NEW ZEALAND. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. SYDNEY, 25th February. The Rev. James Carruthers has been elected president of the Methodist Conference. Rev. Dr. Youngman, speaking of his recent visit to New Zealand in connection with the inauguration of an independent conference and the consummation, of the Methodist Union, said that no one realised the importance of the step taken, but he was perfectly confident that the union would mean a great advancement in Methodism in the Dominion. [The new president of the conference has been a leading Methodist minister in New South Wales for many years — since 1868. His principal work has been in connection with tho organisation of the connexional funds. He is secretary of the General Conference of the Methodist Church of Australia, and editor of tho Methodist, SydAey.J
