Me. W. G. Riddsll, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court to-day. Susannah Ackewnan, convicted on the charge of being a rogue and vagabond, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment a f " ' Annie Gerry, <m a charge of drunkenness, was ordei-ed to pay £1 18s, expenses <>f curative treatment, in default four days' imprieofltmwrt. Sydney Charles Wesrtbrook pleaded guilty to a oharge of having assaulted .Tame 3 Walls Brovrn, of Ngaio. SubInspector Sheiehan seated tbafc accused struck complainant with a stick,, and knocked him dovra, subsequently pointing a revolver at Brown. Tha accused said complainant had bean quarrelling for some time past. Brown \ras plumber to the Qaslow Bowugh Council^ and had otoaeitin to Oompl*m to the council -with respect to the water supply arrangemente ■of aooueed^s house. Accused was convicted, fined &Z, and 'ordered to find sureties to kc&p tho peace for six montbe. Sydney Thomas flume, who was charged with deserting from H.M.S. Torch, was remanded till the naval authorities eoukl be communicated with.
