WELLS WINS FROM MEHEGAN ON POINTS. (Received February 23, 1 p,m.) LONDON, 24th February. Matt Wells, the ex-light-weight champion of England, beat Mehegan, the Australian champion, on points. [The Mirror of Life, London, on 18th January remarked :— •"Ever since their sensational contest at The Ring/ when Wells lost on a foul in 14 rounds, there has been much discussion of their merits. . . The men will meet at the National Sporting Club in a contest ofl 20 rounds for £100 a-side and & purse of £900, divided into £625 to the Winner and £275 to the loser.]
