BREACH OF BANKRUPTCY ACT
AUCKLAND, 24th February. Twelve charges of having committed breaches of the Bankruptcy Act were made against Oliver Edward Farrow, oi Auckland, at the Supreme Court. Ttio individual charges set forth that Farrow contracted certain debts when he had no reasonable probable expectation of being able to pay for the goods secured. In addition Farrow was charged with obtaining property on credit by means of a false balancef?heefc fvom "Winstotie, Ltd., while -the last count charged him with bringing about lij» bankruptcy by rash, and hazardous speculation. After the evidence the jury, by direction of the Judge, brought in a verdict of not guilty on the charges regarding a false balance-sheet and rafih speculation. On ten charges regarding contracting deb*s when he had no reasonable prospect of being able to repay the same, verdicts of guilty were returned. Accused was sentenced to one month's imprisonment on count, sentences to be concurrent. *
