EASTBOURNE BOWLING CLUB
The Eastbourne Bowling Club hopes Jiexfc year to have its new green ready. This, however, -will depend upon the financial support given the club. Debentures are being issued, and practically all the members have taken up parcels of them. - The present membership of the club is approximately thirty. This restricted membership was inevitable, awing that tho club could pxovido only two rinksi for players. Up -to the present the club has been dependent upon the_ goodwill 'Of Mr. \V. F. Shorfct in giving the use of his private ground. The new green will bo situated neat the Rona Bay Wharf on land that is being acquired from Dr. Mackenzie. It lies at the base of the hill, but takes in, for the grounds and pavilion site, a strip of the bush clad rise, which commands a lovely view of the whole liartiotiT. The club has taken the first opportunity of obtaining the land, but will not proceed with the green formation and improvements until the financial prospect is sufficiently good to warrant, the undertaking. The members are, however, anxious, to see the new green ready for next season. 4 This was mentioned on Saturday evening at the Moonlight carnival, which was held mainly with tho object of bringing the club's now venture before 'the fiUoiiSi * * ~ ,
