CHAMPIONSHIPS AT MELBOURNE. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. MELBOURNE, 23rd February. In the swimming championships of Australia, the hundred yards race resulted : E. Wickham 1, Barry 2, Longworth 3. Time. 69sec. It was an exciting finish. Barry's hand shot beneath the rope first, but before bis head touched Wickham got home. The three-quarters-of-a-rnile race resulted : Longworth 1, Smith 2, Springfield 3, Time, 18min 366ec. ' An easy win. MISS DURACK PUTS UP A RECORD. SYDNEY^ 23rd February. In the Ladies' 330 yds State swimming championship Mtss Fanny Durack won, be.ating the world's record by 13 2-ssec, her time being 252 sec. The former record was held by Miss Daisy Curwen, of England.
