YACHT RACES
m On Saturday afternoon the Port Nicholson Yacht Club got off raoos for first and second-class boats. A hard nor'-wester prevailed. The first-olass race was Won by tho Auckland-built Matangi, recently brought to Wellington by Mr. H. E. White, of Oriental Bay. She was allowed a start of 6min. Lizzio (Mr. C. J. Ward), which started at scratch, carried oft the race for the Becond-class boats. ' • The competing boats were: — Firßt Class. Matangi (6tnin), finishing time, 5.20 p.m. ' . 1' Wairere 11. (scr), finishing time, 5.25 p.m . .2 Siren (Bmin), finishing time, 5.30 p.m. 3 Also started— -Windward (Bmin), 5.35 p.m. ; Mahina (lOmin), 5.46 p.m. ; Waircre I. (Bmin), 5.43 p.m. • Second Class. Lizzie (sor), finishing time, 5.28 p.m. . 1 Rawene (7min), finishing time, 5.29 p.m. . . .2 Isca (Bniin), finishing time, 5.42 p.m. 3 ■ Also started— Reverie (3min), 6.2 p.m. ; Taipari (6min), ahd Amai (smin) did not finish.
