HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
The House met at 2.30 p.m. Mr. G. M. Thomson presented a petition from 107 people concerned, praying for relief from the harassing conditions under which the fishing industry is now carried on. Notice was given by Mr. 'Young to ask the Government if it will enter on and carry out a forward roading policy for the Dominion. In answer to Mr. Wittj', the Prime Minister said the Land Bill would not be ready for circulation for some days. Mr. Payne asked leave to move, without notice, that representatives of the Post and telegraph Department be heard before a Select Committee of the House before the Public Service Bill is proceeded with. The Hbn. A. L. Herdman objected to the motion being moved without notice, and consequently it could not be proceeded with. The House then went into Committee of Supply for the consideration of the Estimates. (Left Sitting.)
