NAVAL CHAPLAINS
AUSTRALIAN BOARD'S PROPOSALS APPROVED BY MINISTER OF DEFENCE. By Teleerajh.— Iresi ABsoclattoß.-CopyrJfht. (Received July 11, 11 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The Australian Naval Board recommtnds that the proportion of Protestant and Roman Catholic chaplains to the fleet should be based on the census. Out of tvery four chaplains three are £o be Protestant and one Roman Catholic; out of every five Protestant chaplains three are to be Anglican and two representatives of other churches. The chaplains jure to be subject to naval discipline. Their yearly salary is to be £317, including allowances. The Minister for Defence (Hon. (5. F. Pearce) approves 1 of the recommendations.
