FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE. LONDON, 30th June, Three Irish cows suffering from foot and mouth disease have been sent to the Liverpool abbatoirs. Further import of cattle from Ireland has been prohibited. FATAL EXPLOSION. BERLIN, 29th June. An explosion on the Norddeutscher Lloyd steamer Schwaben, 5098 tons, killed thirty-four soldiers. The Schwaben is insured in London for £25,000. EDUCATION IN SOUTH AFRICA. CAPETOWN, 29th June. The education controversy has been settled by the Government taking over the free schools established by Mr. Fraser as a protest against General Hertzog's rigid bi-lingualißm. KAISERIN'S HEALTH. BERLIN, 29th June. Owing to the Kaiserin's unsatisfactory health, the Kaiser has changed his plans, and returns to Potsdam. ' OBITUARY. ADELAIDE, 29th June. John Ford Paterson, landscape-painter, is dead. STATE REVENUES. SYDNEY, 30th June. The New South Wales revenue for the past year was £15,761,907, an increase of £1,922,768 over 1910-11. MELBOURNE, 30th June. Victoria's revenue for 1911-12 was £9,826,716, an increase of £684,183. " (Received July 1, 10.20 a.m.) ' ADELAIDE, This Day. South Australian revenue for the year amounted to £4,455,700, an increase of £274,228.
