THEFT OF A RACEHORSE

AUCKLAND, 28th June. Although the Pukekohe district ha 3 been scoured by the police and others, no trace has yet been found of the mare Soultoria, which was taken from her stable on Tuesday night last. The owners are offering a substantial reward for the recovery of the mare, or for any information that will lead to the conviction of the thieves. CHRISTCHURCH TRAMWAYS BOARD CHRISTCHURCH, 28th June. The Hon. J. Barr states that, in connection with yesterday's election of members of the Christchurch Tramway Board, h© was not nominated by the Labour Representation Committee, nor is he in any way connected with that body. It is improbable that the Tramway Employees' Union will carry out its intention to cease work on a certain, date. An adjourned meeting is to be held on Tuesday, when it ie> likely that, a committee will be set up to confer with the board relative to matters connected with the managem«nt of th© operating staff. A half-caste named Henry Mason, aged 22 years, on Saturday last was winded on tho football fiold. x This affected hjs liver, which was in an. advanced stage of disease, and Mason died yesterday afternoon.
