The Governor* Speech foreshadowed liberal assistance in mining development, the uurchuee of steamers for the northern cattle trade and the erection of State abattoirs, extensive railway construction^ extension of tho Fremaatle, Albany, Bunbury, and Geraldton horbbure. An , amendment of the liquor law, providing for complete local option, is also promised. Mr. W. D. Johnston, Minister for ' Works, made a. statement on the official report concerning the Frem&ntle graving dock, which showed the position to be so serious that the Government had decided to abandon the present site and submit a new scheme providing ample dock accommodation. .
