The trouble with the wateraiders at Onehvmga was adjusted to-day, and the men resumed work at 2.15 o'clock. A conference was previously, held with the 1 Onehunga representative of" the Northern S.S. Company. An agreement was then come to under which, for the future the men will be both put on and off by the foreman and off by the -mate. The men are allowed a quarter of an hour's pay if they work six minutes beyond the hour. Their objection to being put off by the mate was that a difference of a couple of minutes between his watch and that of the foreman might result in extra pay being lost to them. In regard to the question of sighing the 'agreement with' the Federation of Labour, it was agreed that it should stand over for a month, till the manager of the company (Mr. Hanson)' returns from Australia. DWELLINGS FOR .WORKERS AUCKLAND, 27th- < June. The Department of Labour has invited tenders for the erection of thirty-six workers' dwellings at Ellerslie and Otahuhu. At a meeting of the Dunedin branch of the New Zealand Railway Officers' Institute, a resolution was carried expressing indignation at the failure of the Minister for Railways to give effect to the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee who enquired into the complaints of the First Division, referred to in a petition presented to Parliament last year. The meeting regarded the failure to carry out the recommendations of the Railway Committee as a distinct breach of faith on the part of the Government, and strongly expressed the opinion that by so doing it would increase' the discontent and dissatisfaction already prevailing throughout the service.
