Baron Vincent Paterno, a Sicilian, who in March, 1911, killed Countess Giulia Trigoua, a lady-in-waiting to Queen Elena, of Italy, and then attempted suicide, and who was afterwards committed to an asylum, has been sentenced to imprisonment for life. [The tragedy occurred in a private room of an hotel, where the 'Countess, who was separated from her husband, and had been carrying on an, intrigue with Paterno, met him by appointment. He was in financial straits, and wanted money from the Countess, who had previously paid his gambling debte, but who was then desirons of breaking off her connection with him.]
