ARBOR DAY

REPORT OF THE 1911 OBSERVANCES. Tile Wellington Education Board received yesterday the summary of replies as to the observance of Arbor Day for 1911 in Wellington district s— "Of the 170 schools in the district, more than 20 are so circumstanced being household schools or schools in rented premises, that Arbor Day could not reasonably bo observed. Observance in 1911— -80 have definitely replied that the day was duly observed, and have described the mode of observance ; 51 that it was not observed; 19 have not replied. "Proposed observance in 1912:— 86 have definitely stated that the day will be observed 5 18 that it will not be 6bservedj 12 have -definite plans under consideration; and the remainder at the time of reply were not in a position to make definite statement. " "ENTHUSIASM BEYOND ALL PRAISE." Many reports show that the day ha* been observed M'ith an. enthusiasm beyond all praise.
